NW Analyst – Level I Basic Investigation
Class size: 8-10 People Class Duration: 1 Day Pre-requisites: None Dates: September 13, 2010
Course objectives This course focuses on providing a basic introduction to the technology of the NetWitness NextGen system, focusing specifically on the features and functionality of the Investigator product. Aimed at junior analysts and those new to the NetWitness system, the course provides a basic level of understanding of how to create data sets and connect into a NetWitness enterprise infrastructure. Once connected to a data collection, the course provides an introduction to the navigational capabilities of the Investigator and discusses performance considerations and best practices for effective navigation through large data sets. Additionally the course covers the basics of viewing reports, charts and alerts in Informer and linking from those back to the Investigator for more in-depth analysis.
NW Analyst Level II – Content Development
Class size: 8-10 People Class Duration: 2 Days Pre-requisites: NW Analyst Level Dates: September 14 - 15, 2010
Course objectives This course will focus on content development. This will teach an advanced analyst how to develop application rules for detection, create & leverage threat feeds to model environments and identify know malicious systems. Finally, utilize Informer to tie it all together and develop reports, charts & alerts.
NW Administrator
Class size: 8-10 People Class Duration: 2 days Pre-requisites: None Dates: September 16 - 17, 2010
Course objectives This course will focus on installation and configuration of NetWitness server/appliance products. Part of this class will cover hands-on installation, troubleshooting issues, and advanced configuration. Additionally, this course covers the server-side implementation of many of the rules/feeds/custom meta created in the Analyst Level II course.
NW Forensics – Advanced Host and Network Based Forensics
Class size: 8 People Class Duration: 2 days Pre-requisites: None Dates: September 9 - 10, 2010
Course objectives This course will cover the threats facing computer networks today, understanding malicious code, learn investigative forensic techniques for Host and Network, as well as developing detection indicators using a variety of freeware tools.
