Decoder to Log Decoder

We have Packet Decoder in our environment.

Is it possible to convert packet decoder to Log decoder and log collector?

If yes then what would be the procedure for the same?

Hi Krishnanand,

If you are on the metered license you can just reimage the appliance.  The hardware for the Decoder and Log Decoder are the same.

If it is licensed as an appliance, you will need to contact your sales rep to get the license converted and then reimage.

Guy is correct for metered licenses.If it uses a service based license you will need to purchase a log decoder license from your sales person before you can do the conversion.

However both for service based and metered licenses you must reach out to Support to have the back end information changed for the appliance. The reason for this is because if you convert the appliance from a packet decoder to a log decoder and then require a RMA for that appliance, you will receive an appliance containing the original configuration. In this case you would receive a packet decoder back instead of the log decoder you had changed it into.
