System runs slow after installing ECAT 4.x agent

Issue

After installing ECAT 4.x agent, the system starts to run slowly.
High CPU utilization is noticed and reviewing running processes from the Task Manager reveals it is caused by the ECAT agent process.

Cause

ECAT is a high priority process and hence always consumes the required CPU resource before other processes unless Agent CPU throttling is enabled.

Resolution

To prevent the ECAT agent from taking a high CPU utilization, please follow the steps below to enable Agent CPU throttling.

1. Log in to ECAT server UI.
2. Click Configure -> Global Parameters.
3. In the Agent CPU throttling section, check the Enabled checkbox as shown below and leave the values as the default unless there is a specific need to change them.

4. Click OK or Apply.
