Boot error: "dracut-initqueue timeout" in RSA NetWitness 11 Upgrade/Image

Issue

When rebuilding SA server for NW 11 upgrade, after booting from USB stick and select install NW 11.0 from installation menu, the console will give below errors and enter emergency mode and stop.

Generating "run/initramfs/rdsosreport.txt"

Entering emergency mode. Exit the shell to continue.
Type "journalctl" to view system logs.
You might want to save "run/initramfs/rdsosreport.txt" to a USB stick or /boot after mounting mounting them and attach it to a bug report.

Cause

This was due to the USB build stick not having the correct volume label (OEMDRV).

 

Resolution

As per RSANW-11.0-Build Stick Instruction, page 5, step 2a, a volume label name OEMDRV must be entered.

1. Insert the USB drive that you will use as the build stick.
2. Format the USB drive.
a. In Microsoft Windows Explorer, go to "This PC" for Windows 10 or Computer for older Windows Operating Systems.
b. Right-click the USB device, and click Format.
c. In the format menu, make sure that your drive has OEMDRV for the Volume label, check the Quick Format checkbox, and click Start.
