Issue
If the NetWitness Platform is integrated with third-party applications, software may be installed on the NetWitness system to support the integration. Note that installing third-party applications on the NetWitness Platform is highly discouraged and not supported.
If this integration software uses a version of the Log4j library that is vulnerable to an attack, NetWitness Platform may be exploited. For example, a third-party integration to pull logs and push them to the Decoder installed alongside a NetWitness component, may be actively exploited via the Log4j vulnerability.
Though the NetWitness Platform is not vulnerable, the third-party integration software may lead to a successful attack if installed on the same system. In such environments, we encourage all customers to validate their deployments and take the appropriate immediate action to correct the vulnerability as quickly as possible.
Affected Versions
All NetWitness Platforms currently supported on 11.4, 11.5, 11.6, 11.7
