Licensing Before DAC Connectivity - Is it recommended?

Hi All,

Can I do the licensing of the RSA SA Server before the DAC cable getting connected to log decoder & concentrator. Actually the thing is that there is wrong DAC cable has been delivered to customer of Series 4 appliances, but what the customer have the appliances series are of series 5, so that's why the DAC cable is in compatible with the series 5 appliances.

So I want to know that, can I do the licensing of the rsa sa server before the new cable of DAC arrives and getting connected? I hope there would not be any problem in this case.

Hi Deepanshu,

The new Series 5 devices use a Different SAS cable that can be plugged in either way. Make sure that the link light comes on, and for the license ,you can go to the Download Central Software/License and select your License Server ID and perform the Map/Add on and it should be ready to go when you are.

So is it official to do the licensing of the sa server of series of 5 appliances before adding the DAC and after licensing I can also add the dac whenever it’s required?

Here the DAC is of Series 4 type and all the appliances are of series 5 type.

Hello,

If the license is required it will show under the Map Add on in Download Central, you will have no harm adding prior to the addition of the DAC,  DAC  can connect to Series 4 or 5 devices.

Hi Deepanshu,

I believe that there are differences in the DACs for Series 4 and Series 5.  the Series 5 use the MiniSAS cables. 

Plus, you probably know already, but the management interface moved from the far left port to the second from the right on the series 5 servers.
