Can we build a back up of VLC and create a new VLC with the same config, settings and ip, so in case our VLC is down then we can continue with the backup VLC ? Do anyone have any idea on this.

VMotion is the solution.

Without VMotion is this possible? We don't have that.

Can we create a copy of VLC instead of creating backup of VLC? And can it be done on server running in production.
If No then how can we create the backup?

I am not sure that how we can create a vlc copy without a vmotion in the environment, but we can create a vlc which will be on a standby mode always and when required it will be used as a replacement of production vlc only for syslogs, snmp, snare, winrm & odbc, vmware only, but surely not in a file reader collection method.
But in winrm, snmp, odbc, vmware, chkpoint-the configurations of all these collection method must be imported on the backup vlc & it should be tested.

"same ip" : you can use virtual IP address
